Coastal Navigation Testimonials
"Dear Bruce,
Many thanks for the home-study coastal navigation
course ... I liked being able to work on my own, in my own time and found the course covered a lot of 'ground' and
the exercises included lots of practical, local nav problems."

"It has been a real pleasure to meet you. Your patience & knowledge have
helped get us off to a good start with our Riviera. Wishing you all the best,"

"Hi Bruce,
Terry and I returned for an unchaperoned weekend on our boat. We just went over to
Cowichan Bay - we planned a short trip and did not want to be too ambitious on our first solo. There was a lot of
marine traffic, including the large ferries in Swartz Bay.
Everything went well, in large part due to your assistance - thank you. We saw more
than one example of a large boat being docked very poorly! What a circus it can be on the water.
Our docking was very good, and drew an appreciative comment from the owner of the
marina. A little knowledge of spring lines would help a lot of skippers at the dock.
Trust that you are well, and enjoying the nicer weather."

"I have enjoyed several hours of instructive and
pleasurable boating tuition from Mr Bruce Stott. As a first time boat owner, I have much to learn and felt my
confidence growing each time we journeyed out. I have learned a great deal regarding boating safety and
regulations, from dockside preparations for leaving, reading and understanding charts, correct anchoring procedures
and importantly, using the local waterways safely and responsibly.
This makes me feel more equipped and able to
venture out safely with my family.
Bruce is a very patient tutor and his knowledge
and communication skills make for a very worthwhile and informative boating
experience."
Sincerely,
Mr Yat Keung Mak.

To
Whom It May Concern
We
have just completed a 2-year sailing adventure of a lifetime.
Our sailing experience prior to this adventure was zero, with exception of our sailing
lessons with Bruce Stott of Gulf Islands Cruising School Ltd. Bruce Stott provided us with many new skills
including sailing, docking and dinghy lessons not only for myself but also for my wife and 3 children on our
sailboat we had just purchased. With our newly acquired skills we travelled to the Alaska Ice Fields,
to Mexico and across the Pacific Ocean to travel through many
of the islands in the South Pacific such as Tahiti, Bora Bora, Tonga and Fiji.
I
would not hesitate to recommend anyone to Gulf Islands Cruising School Ltd. wishing to gain either new skills
or improve their existing skills.

Bruce,
Thank you again for an excellent boating coarse! Your expertise was very helpful in many aspects,
not just in basic boating, but boat handling, care and so much more. I also
appreciated your calm, very clear instruction and
directions.
And, at some future date we would like to book more time with you (more boating skills and use of
down riggers). We can do this whenever it is a slack (or should I say less hectic) period for
you.

to further my education in this interesting way of life in the future.

Hi Bruce
I hope all is well. Bruce I wanted to tell you what a great trip we had. We
all said over and over how thankful we were to have had such a great teacher! Our fuel costs were only
$400.00 and switched to the second 100 gallon water tank on the last day. On returning to TMM I had to dock
the 43 powercat in a 44 foot space and nailed it.
Thanks for all the skills.

We are so grateful to you & your program. It was the
beginning of our sailing life - & what a wonderful opportunity it is.
Thank you!

We have a Maple Leaf 45 called Komara. We're going to
Mexico, down the coast & through Panama into the Caribbean. Then planning to cross to
Europe, maybe Ireland, England then down into the Mediterranean before coming back to the
Caribbean. Who knows after that.
We had a Westsail 42 since
1993 & took her offshore for a yr with our kids, aged 15
& 16. Then we cruised California to Mexico, Hawaii &
back.
It's because of the training I received through Gulf
Island's Cruising that I was confident enough to learn to handle the Westsail & now the Maple
Leaf.

Julie
